have you ever encountered a tricky physics problem?
the guide to problem solving
When it comes to physics, sometimes it seems like the problems we are asked to solve are just out to get us. Whether it requires the use of a formula you haven't seen for weeks or it uses weird words like "kinematics" and "quantum," don't let those questions stump you! With some hard work, perseverance, and perhaps a few tips and tricks, you will be the PRO in PROblem solving!
Adding good problem solving skills to your arsenal can provide you the tools to solve not only your typical classroom physics problems, but also real world situations. Some of you may have heard of the National Academy of Engineering's Grand Challenges for Engineering. In a study published in the journal Innovations in Education and Teaching International in March 2015, it was found that in a course on the engineering grand challenges, facilitating and promoting collaborative problem-solving skills was a critical component (Zou & Mickleborough). You, too, can work towards making the world a better place by honing in on your own problem solving skills!
